Zen Delay Virtual (ZDV) is a premium dub delay and sound-shaping plugin developed by Erica Synths in collaboration with electronic music record label Ninja Tune. Built as the software extension of the acclaimed hardware unit, the plugin combines extreme feedback ranges with a 24 dB multi-mode synth filter and a valve overdrive stage. It is widely used across techno, dub, hip-hop, electronic, and experimental genres to add grit, movement, and atmospheric space to drums, synths, and vocal stems.

The engine provides 5 delay algorithms (Tape, Digital, Tape Ping-Pong, Digital Ping-Pong, and Vintage), maximum delay times up to 5000 ms, and flexible routing options—including the ability to isolate the filter stage or place it directly into the feedback loop. Unlike the original hardware, ZDV expands sound design capabilities with an advanced Dual LFO modulation section (featuring FM and AM controls) and full DAW automation. Zen Delay Virtual is a paid plugin requiring an iLok account for authorization and runs in 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats (as well as a standalone application) for Windows (10+) and macOS (10.15+ with Apple Silicon and Intel support).
