Waterfall Rotary Speaker is Universal Audio's emulation of the classic Leslie 147 rotary speaker cabinet, wrapping guitars, vocals, keyboards, and more in rich, three-dimensional modulation effects that go far beyond chorus and flange. The rotary speaker is one of the most difficult effects to fake convincingly because of its time-varying behaviour, and UA's approach is unusually rigorous: the cabinet was modelled by capturing its reflections and resonances with expertly-placed vintage microphones and recording test signals at hundreds of angles, less than one degree apart for each mic configuration.

The result is a precise model of the spinning speakers' time-varying sound, together with authentically emulated tube power amp saturation delivering rich overtones and harmonics. Perfectly positioned mono and stereo vintage mic setups provide album-ready results quickly, alongside an intuitive interface and curated presets. Note that, as with the original hardware, the input is mono: placing it on a stereo source will mix that source to mono before processing, while the output is mono or stereo depending on the track format. It runs natively on macOS and Windows without UA hardware, or accelerated on Apollo interfaces and UAD Accelerators, in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
