VOCALOID6 is Yamaha's singing synthesizer editor — the sixth generation of the platform that created the virtual singer category — and its role in a production is documented by comparison with what surrounds it: Crypton Future Media distributes character voice banks with VOCALOID6 Editor Lite and Piapro Studio rather than with the full editor, and VOCALOID6 Editor Lite is a feature-limited version of VOCALOID6 Editor — so the editor and the voice banks are separate purchases, and the full editor is what unlocks the complete feature set. Its generational additions centre on two things. The AI Voice Bank generation introduced voices trained on AI models rather than concatenative samples, producing more natural phrasing and smoother note transitions — the same shift Dreamtonics and others made in the same period. The other headline capability is VOCALO CHANGER, which converts a recorded human vocal performance into a VOCALOID voice while preserving the original performance's timing, pitch, and expression — a fundamentally different workflow from entering notes and lyrics by hand, and the feature that connects VOCALOID to conventional vocal production. Additional capabilities include enhanced expression parameters, a multilingual feature allowing a voice bank to sing beyond its native language, and improved note, lyric, and controller editing, with compatibility for earlier voice banks where version rules permit. It runs as a standalone application and as a VST3/AU plugin on macOS and Windows, and an internet connection is required at the time of activation for the platform. It suits pop, EDM, rock, and vocaloid production, plus vocal prototyping and demo work. Confirm the current version, bundled voices, and pricing on Yamaha's VOCALOID store, since the platform receives periodic updates and the bundled voice set changes. #VOCALOID6 #VOCALOID #Yamaha #SingingSynth #VocalSynth #VocalSynthesis #AIVoiceBank #VOCALOCHANGER #Multilingual #ExpressionControl #VirtualSinger #VST3 #AU #Standalone #Pop #EDM #Rock #MusicProduction #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase #StudioOne
