Vocal Bender is Waves' real-time vocal manipulation plugin, built to produce the most popular sounds in hip hop, pop, R&B and electronic genres. With zero latency and two simple pitch and formant controls, it lets you track, mix and perform hit-sounding vocals instantly. The design prioritises immediacy: rather than offering extensive editing, it presents the two controls that produce the majority of contemporary vocal effects, with a Link control to link the Pitch and Formant knobs when you want them to move together. Beyond the basics there is a deeper modulation section, accessible by opening Vocal Bender's trunk to reach the plugin's deeply musical modulation features. A Flatten button flattens the vocal to any selected single pitch, creating instant robot-like vocal effects, and combining the flattened vocal with the modulation and sequencing features produces vocal sequences that use the original voice as a creative starting point. Other features include vibrato, pitch drops, sequenced pitching, a Mix knob for blending harmonies and doubles on inserts, dozens of presets, and an optimisation for voice that also makes it usable on other sources for sound design. It can be used live on stage from a live DAW session.
