About Virtual Monitoring Add-On for SoundID Reference
Virtual Monitoring Add-On for SoundID Reference extends Sonarworks' calibration platform with the ability to simulate different listening environments and playback systems, so a mix can be evaluated against the conditions it will actually be heard in. This addresses the translation problem directly: a mix that sounds right on calibrated headphones or a treated room can still behave differently on a car stereo, a phone speaker, or a club system, and the add-on makes those comparisons possible without changing location.
It is a companion to the core SoundID Reference product rather than a replacement — it appears among the Buy with options for SoundID Reference for Headphones, for Speakers & Headphones, and for Multichannel, and is also available in the Apollo Monitor Correction context. Because it is an add-on, a valid permanent SoundID Reference licence is required for it to function. It suits mixing and mastering engineers, producers, and composers who need to confirm how a finished mix will hold up across devices. Note that the Virtual Monitoring PRO tier requires different measurement conditions: it needs an audio interface with independent speaker and headphone outputs set to 44.1 kHz, and measurement is done with the Virtual Monitoring PRO measurement microphone. It works on macOS and Windows with the corresponding SoundID Reference installation.
