Vintage Horns is a Funk/Soul Productions library for Big Fish Audio, and its purpose is stated directly by a reviewer: the concept behind this library is to create a collection of horns to let you quickly capture the vibe of old Philly, Memphis, and Detroit soul, as well as other familiar horn section sounds from the 60's. That is a specific and worthwhile brief, because the horn sections of 1960s soul records have a distinct character — tighter, drier, and more percussive than modern orchestral brass — and reproducing it needs a dedicated library rather than a general-purpose brass instrument. Its contents and articulation system are documented: the Kontakt Player version contains nine instrument patches, each with keyswitches to control Long notes, Short notes, Stabs, Falls, and Swells, and for brass and reeds, Sforzando samples are also included. A reFill version includes 53 NN-XT sampler patches, with five different articulations for all instruments: Long notes, Short notes, Stabs, Falls, and Swells, again with Sforzando samples for brass and reeds. Requirements per the current listing are Kontakt Player 7.10.6, with Mac: Intel Macs (i5 or higher) on macOS 12, 13, or 14 (latest update), Apple Silicon Macs (via Rosetta 2 and natively on ARM in Standalone or in hosts that support it) on macOS 12, 13, or 14, and Windows: Windows 10 or 11 (latest Service Pack), Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU, with 4 GB RAM. It suits soul, funk, R&B, Motown-influenced production, retro pop, and film and television scoring, and it sits alongside the developer's Funk Soul Vintage Horn Loops collection, whose Version 2.0 adds a powerful browser, standalone application, and access via subscription. It is a natural fit for producers building period-accurate soul and funk. #VintageHorns #BigFishAudio #FunkSoulProductions #HornSection #Brass #Reeds #Soul #Funk #RandB #Motown #Stax #VintageSoul #Kontakt #KontaktPlayer #Keyswitch #Articulations #FilmScore #Television #MusicProduction #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase #Reaper
