About Vice
Vice is a retro-focused virtual synthesizer software instrument developed by Initial Audio. Inspired by the classic hardware synths, drum machines, and futuristic aesthetic of the 1980s, it bridges vintage analog warmth with modern digital sound manipulation. It is widely used across synthwave, retrowave, cyberpunk, 80s pop, synth-pop, lo-fi, and cinematic scoring to craft fat analog basses, shimmering arpeggios, nostalgic brass, warm pads, and punchy vintage drum patches.
The plugin features a dual-oscillator architecture supporting custom waveform morphing, analog-modeled noise generators, and pulse-width modulation. Processing is driven by a flexible multi-mode filter section (Low-Pass, High-Pass, Band-Pass) paired with dedicated ADSR envelopes and tempo-synced LFOs for organic dynamic motion. Key features include an integrated step arpeggiator/sequencer, built-in multi-effects (warm distortion, tape delay, chorus, lush hall reverb, and dynamic EQ), over 200 factory presets tuned for retrowave styles, and pitch-bend glide controls for classic portamento lines. Vice operates in 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows (7+) and macOS (with native Apple Silicon and Intel support).
