Rob Papen SubBoomBass 2 is a bass-focused virtual synthesizer designed for electronic music production, hip-hop, trap, dance music, and cinematic sound design. Its sound engine combines virtual analog waveforms, spectral waveforms, high-quality samples, granular processing, and Karplus–Strong physical string modeling. Two oscillators and a dedicated sub-oscillator provide a range of low-end sounds, plucks, metallic tones, and synth textures. The instrument also includes more than 2,500 presets, along with the original SubBoomBass preset library.

The synthesizer features two flexible filters with 31 filter types each, pre- and post-filter distortion, envelopes, LFOs, four modulation slots, and an X/Y pad for interactive or automated parameter control. Its four-pattern step sequencer includes per-step pitch, velocity, slide, tie, swing, and ratcheting controls for creating basslines and rhythmic sequences. Two built-in effects slots offer processing such as delay, reverb, chorus, phaser, distortion, compression, and stereo widening. SubBoomBass 2 supports VST, VST3, AU, and AAX on compatible Windows and macOS systems, including Apple Silicon compatibility.
