Studio D Chorus emulates one of the most-used chorus units in recording history — a rack effect whose lush, wide modulation became a defining texture on guitars, basses, keys, and vocals across the 1980s and beyond. Chorus of this kind is not merely a widening effect: it adds movement and body that make a source feel richer and more dimensional, which is why it remains in constant use decades after the hardware was discontinued.

The original's reputation rests on a particular quality of modulation — smooth, deep, and musical rather than obvious or metallic — and on how it flatters both clean guitars and synth pads. It suits rock, pop, new wave, funk, and electronic production, and works equally well on a bus or as a stereo-widening treatment. It runs natively on macOS and Windows without UA hardware, or accelerated on Apollo interfaces and UAD Accelerators, in VST3, AU, and AAX formats, and is included in the UAD native plugin range alongside titles such as Brigade Chorus and Galaxy Tape Echo.
