It captures the complete electronic signal paths — Input, Sync, and Repro — of an A800 machine from Allen Sides' collection at Ocean Way Studios, making it one of the most accurate representations of multitrack analog tape recording available in software.

In practice the A800 is a bus and session cohesion tool: it is commonly placed on drum buses, guitar groups, and key instrument layers to add the warmth, presence, and low-end punch that only genuine tape provides, before a 2-track machine handles final polish on the stereo mix. It runs natively on macOS and Windows, or accelerated on Apollo audio interfaces or UAD Accelerators, in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. With the LUNA Recording System, the Studer LUNA Extension is woven into LUNA's mixer for an analog-inspired workflow.
