Steinway D Platinum is part of EastWest's Quantum Leap Pianos collection, which the producer's own credits describe as the most detailed virtual piano collection ever produced. The Steinway Model D is the nine-foot concert grand that serves as the reference instrument in most major concert halls and recording studios, and its sonic signature — a powerful low end, a singing midrange, and an ability to shift from intimate to enormous without changing character — is why it is the piano most recorded for classical, jazz, and film scoring.

The Platinum designation indicates the deepest tier of the collection, and EastWest's piano libraries of this kind are built around extensive microphone perspectives — typically close, player, side, and room or hall positions — recorded so that any combination can be mixed to place the instrument from intimate to distant. That flexibility is the practical reason for the Platinum tier: a single-perspective piano library commits a production to one sound, whereas a multi-perspective capture lets the same performance be placed differently for a solo recording and for a dense mix. The recording technology is documented elsewhere in the developer's piano work as robot-assisted sampling, used to capture the world's finest concert-grade pianos with unprecedented realism. It includes "Opus" as a sample player, running as standalone or plug-in in AAX Native, AU, VST2, and VST3 on Mac and Windows, available as a perpetual licence or via ComposerCloud+. Requirements for Opus libraries are macOS 10.15 or higher (64-bit) or Windows 10 or higher (64-bit with an ASIO sound driver), with a quad-core CPU (octa-core recommended) at 2.7 GHz or higher, 16 GB RAM (32 GB or more recommended), and an SSD hard drive (SATA or PCIe). It suits classical, jazz, film and television scoring, and singer-songwriter production. Confirm which tier and edition your listing refers to, since EastWest's piano collections have been reissued across engine generations.
