Session Bassist – Upright Bass covers the double bass in the Session Bassist range — the instrument that anchors jazz, folk, Americana, bluegrass, blues, and singer-songwriter music, and whose large resonant body, gut-adjacent string tone, and blooming decay give it a presence no electric bass reproduces. The library provides three distinct microphone setups, so the bass can be captured close and articulate for jazz solos, or at distance for a room-heavy folk sound, along with an additional D.I. signal with tone control for blending the direct and miked signals.

The series architecture applies, with pattern-based playing and a multisample set designed to deliver authentic-sounding bass lines, patterns, and riffs for songwriting and music production, played by a session bassist with round robin variants and velocities in multiple fret positions. The playback engine lets you seamlessly switch between patterns and alter the dynamics in real time, creating true-to-life musical performances, and patterns can be dragged and dropped into your DAW. It ships with 39 curated sound presets and supports a melody instrument for playing your own lines. It belongs to the Session Bassist range alongside Prime Bass, Icon Bass, Jam Bass, and Upright Bass, and to the wider ecosystem created in collaboration with Big Wave Audio — the team behind Icon Bass, Prime Bass, Electric Sunburst Deluxe, Electric Vintage, Electric Storm Deluxe, Strummed Acoustic, Picked Acoustic, Session Percussionist, Acoustic Sunburst Deluxe, and more. It is a Komplete Instrument requiring the free Kontakt Player version 7.9.0 or Kontakt version 7.9.0 and higher, running on macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and standalone formats with NKS support.
