u-he Satin is a tape simulation and creative effects plugin designed to reproduce the sonic characteristics of magnetic tape, from subtle saturation and transient smoothing to more pronounced compression, distortion, hiss, wow, and flutter. Rather than emulating a single tape machine, Satin provides a modular tape machine toolkit with selectable tape materials, adjustable tape speeds from 1.87 to 30 ips, multiple recording and reproduction EQ curves, soft clipping, and detailed controls for bias, crosstalk, head gap, azimuth, and high-frequency compression.

Satin also includes stereo tape delay and through-zero tape flanging, with two- or four-head configurations, multiple routing options, feedback, filtering, and individual tape-head motion. Its five noise-reduction encoder/decoder models can be used for coloration or decoding recordings made with historical noise-reduction systems, while the Group panel allows up to eight instances to be controlled together. The plugin is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux in CLAP, VST3, AUv2, and AAX formats, with 120+ factory presets.
