RM40 is an audio effect developed by iFeature in collaboration with Barking Continues and AVAION. It is designed to simplify a sound-design technique commonly used in electronic music, particularly dubstep, by combining amplitude modulation with noise shaping in a single plugin. The processing can introduce anything from subtle rhythmic movement and analog-style instability to more aggressive, gritty textures. RM40 can be used on basses, pads, drums, vocals, synths, and other sources where additional movement or character is desired.

The plugin provides three main controls: Flutter, which adds subtle modulation to the amplitude signal; Rate, which controls the speed and intensity of the modulation; and Noise, which introduces an additional layer of analog-style noise and texture. Together, these controls can produce smooth pulsing movement, warmth, modulation effects, rougher textures, and more pronounced metallic or unstable sounds. RM40 is available in VST3 and AUv2 formats for Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later, with the macOS version provided as a Universal binary.
