Auburn Sounds Renegate is a full-band gate plugin designed to provide fast, natural, and transparent gating with a simplified control interface. Its detection engine uses a 43-band psychoacoustic model together with program-dependent hysteresis, built-in look-ahead, and automatic release to respond accurately to changing input dynamics while minimizing unwanted clicks and abrupt transitions. The free edition provides the core gating engine and is suitable for cleaning recorded audio, controlling noise, and shaping dynamics.

The Full Edition adds low-pass and high-pass VCA modes, 4x oversampling, a built-in sequencer, and a Raw/Smooth control for adjusting the character of the gate. The sequencer can be used for rhythmic gating, volume shaping, and creating programmed patterns, while the filtered VCA modes can be useful for applications such as de-breathing and low-frequency cleanup. Renegate is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux in VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, LV2, and CLAP formats, making it suitable for vocals, drums, guitars, synths, recorded audio, and creative rhythmic processing.
