Waves Renaissance Bass is a psychoacoustic bass enhancement plugin designed to make low-frequency content feel deeper and more powerful without simply boosting the sub-bass. Based on technology originally developed for Waves MaxxBass, it generates harmonics related to the fundamental bass frequency, allowing the ear and brain to perceive bass frequencies that may not be reproduced effectively by smaller playback systems. It is useful on basslines, kick drums, individual tracks, buses, and full mixes.

Renaissance Bass provides controls for the target bass frequency, harmonic intensity, and balance between the original bass and generated harmonics. Unlike conventional EQ boosting, the harmonic approach can add perceived low-end weight with less headroom reduction and less muddying of the original signal. Built-in metering shows the original bass, generated harmonics, and output level for easier gain staging and A/B comparison.
