About Reaktor Prism
REAKTOR PRISM is a synthesizer based on modal synthesis — an approach that models vibrating physical structures rather than generating waveforms subtractively. The result is a distinctive family of sounds: resonant, bell-like, metallic, glassy, and organic tones that are difficult to produce with conventional oscillators and filters, and that respond to playing in an unusual way. It is part of Native Instruments' KOMPLETE Instrument range and runs inside the free REAKTOR PLAYER or REAKTOR.
Its palette suits ambient, cinematic, and experimental electronic music, and it is commonly used for mallet and bell tones, plucked and struck textures, soundscapes, and unusual percussion — the sound design end of production rather than straightforward bass and lead work. It is available for Windows and macOS in Standalone, VST, AU, and AAX formats, requires an internet connection and an OpenGL 2.1 or higher graphics card to download and activate, and runs offline once installed.
