About pure:unmask
pure:unmask is sonible's masking-resolution plugin, built around one specific and universal mixing problem: two sources competing for the same frequency range, where one disappears behind the other no matter how each is EQ'd individually. The plugin addresses this directly by analysing the relationship between a target track and a reference track and dynamically carving space where the two overlap — so the treatment follows the arrangement rather than applying a static EQ cut.
Because the processing is dynamic and relationship-aware, it produces clarity without gutting either source: the reduction happens only when and where the masking occurs, rather than permanently removing the frequencies involved. That makes it useful on vocals against instruments, kick against bass, and guitars against keys — the recurring conflicts in a mix. It is part of sonible's pure range, which complements the smart series. Like sonible's other plugins, it is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, with sample rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, native Apple Silicon support, and machine-based or iLok authorization.
