PS-20 is described as a noise maker, and Cherry Audio is disarmingly candid about its approach in the user guide: the Cherry Audio PS-20 is a somewhat loosely interpreted emulation of the classic Korg MS-20 analog synthesizer. We've carefully modeled the unique tonality of its audio path, including super-accurate emulations of its distinctly raunchy highpass and lowpass filters, but once we got started, we couldn't stop — let's just say we added a LOT of additional functionality to this fun and sometimes-really-weird synth. That is an important distinction for buyers: the MS-20's defining characteristic is its pair of aggressive, unstable filters, and Cherry Audio's focus is on reproducing those accurately while extending everything around them. The extensions are substantial and documented. Where the Korg MS-20 is a monosynth, the Cherry Audio PS-20 can be switched between mono and poly modes, and it also offers semi-modular capabilities through the adjustable patch bay. Features include unison detune for massive lead and bass sounds, MPE support, four user-selectable interface color themes, advanced one-click UI magnification, distortion, studio-quality reverb, and mod echo with tempo sync effects, and full MIDI control and DAW automation for all controls. It is available in AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats, with a free 30-day demo that will play white noise periodically, but is otherwise unlimited. Requirements are macOS 10.13 or above with native Apple M1 or greater processor support, including Ultra, and a 3.4 GHz Quad-Core or M1 CPU with 8 GB of RAM recommended, or Windows 7 or above (including Windows 11), 64-bit required, with a quad-core computer and 8 GB of RAM recommended. An internet connection is required for product activation. It is available at $29, making it one of the more affordable entries in the developer's range. It sits alongside Dreamsynth and other Cherry Audio recreations. It suits industrial, techno, experimental electronic, and synthwave production. #PS20 #CherryAudio #Korg #MS20 #AnalogSynth #SemiModular #PatchBay #MonoSynth #PolySynth #UnisonDetune #MPE #Filters #Distortion #Techno #Industrial #Experimental #Synthwave #MusicProduction #AU #VST #VST3 #AAX #Standalone #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase
