Arturia Pre 1973 is a component-modeled recreation of the iconic British 1073 preamp, designed to reproduce its harmonically rich character, analog distortion, and musical tone controls. Arturia modeled an original 1073 unit built in 1971 and uses its TAE (True Analog Emulation) technology to recreate the behavior of the original hardware. The plugin can add subtle analog coloration at moderate settings or stronger saturation by driving the input gain, making it useful for adding character to otherwise clean digital signals.

Pre 1973 includes a continuous 60 dB input gain range, selectable output transformers, high-, mid-, and low-frequency EQ sections, and a high-pass filter, along with output compensation, phase inversion, and bypass controls. It also provides stereo, dual-mono, and Mid/Side processing options, plus an analog-style VU meter. The plugin is available for Windows 10+ and macOS 11+ and is designed to run inside a DAW, making it suitable for vocals, drums, bass, guitars, synths, and full mixes.
