About SUBSTANCE
Output SUBSTANCE is a three-layer bass instrument designed to create powerful low-end sounds for modern music production. Its engine combines heavily processed electric and acoustic basses, live brass sections, analog-style synthesizers, and experimental sound effects into layered patches that go beyond traditional bass emulation. Each layer can be blended and shaped to build everything from deep sub-basses and gritty synth basses to evolving drones, textured tones, and aggressive low-end sounds. The instrument includes 300 factory presets, a smart-tagging preset browser, and four central macro controls for quickly adjusting each sound.
SUBSTANCE also features layer-specific effects, global effects, filters, modulation, monophonic and legato modes, an advanced arpeggiator, and tempo-synchronized rhythmic controls. Its three-layer architecture makes it possible to combine different sound sources into a single playable instrument, reducing the need to stack multiple instruments manually. Designed for hip-hop, trap, drill, R&B, electronic music, and cinematic sound design, SUBSTANCE is especially useful for producers seeking distinctive bass tones and complex layered sounds. It runs as a Kontakt instrument on compatible Windows and macOS systems, requires Kontakt 5.8.1 or later, and supports Native Instruments NKS integration for compatible keyboards and Maschine hardware.
