About MonoPoly

MonoPoly refers to Korg's Mono/Poly V2, described as reborn through software, and its provenance and method are documented: it offers faithful modeling of the Mono/Poly circuitry, proudly digitized using KORG's Component Modeling Technology (CMT), and a high-resolution interface for Retina and 4K. The original instrument's design explains why it remains notable and why a software version needs to state its approach: the Korg Mono/Poly, released in 1981, was a four-oscillator synthesizer that could operate as a four-voice paraphonic instrument, a monophonic synth with all four oscillators stacked for a huge unison sound, or as four independent monophonic synths driven by the arpeggiator — that third mode is the reason the instrument is associated with the arpeggiated basslines of early 1980s electronic music, and a faithful recreation has to reproduce the mode-switching behaviour rather than only the oscillator and filter tones. Its specifications are documented precisely: maximum of 128-voice polyphony, 16-voice unison, 8-way virtual patches, 2 multi effects, and 300 up-to-date presets. The modulation capability is documented with unusual figures: using 159 different modulation sources, you can modulate up to 35 destinations, allowing you to create sounds that are more complex than those of the original synth — the expansion beyond the original's capabilities is stated honestly, which matters to a buyer comparing hardware-accurate and enhanced recreations. Its new effects are documented: there are two new types of multi effects: Distortion with three types of switchable effects such as Valve Reactor, and Feedback, which has four types of switchable effects such as Reverb, Space, and Riser. This means there are 21 types of high-quality multi effects in total. An upgrade detail should be carried for existing owners: users who already have the plugins from the KORG Collection series can update to version 2 for free — so a purchaser of the original KORG Collection release does not repurchase. It is published by Korg and distributed through KORG Shop. The related multi/poly native is documented as the fully-compatible software counterpart to the hardware multi/poly synthesizer, with redesigned filters and oscillators, modeled VCA responses from the Mono/Poly, MS-20, Mini, Odyssey, and Pro, as well as a linear option, four layers with a separate program for dynamic layering and split sections, dual modeled filters supporting audio-rate modulation, and formats of VST3, AAX, and standalone on macOS and Windows, plus AU on macOS — so the catalogue should distinguish Mono/Poly V2 from multi/poly native, since they are separate products despite the shared lineage. It suits synthwave, 1980s electronic, techno, electro, and modern production, and the four-oscillator unison and the mode-switching arpeggiator behaviour are the two capabilities worth emphasising for a buyer who knows the hardware. #MonoPoly #MonoPolyV2 #Korg #KORGCollection #CMT #ComponentModelingTechnology #AnalogModeling #Synth #FourVCO #Unison #Paraphonic #Arpeggiator #VirtualPatches #MultiEffects #ValveReactor #MultiPolyNative #Synthwave #ElectronicMusic #Techno #Electro #SoundDesign #MusicProduction #VST #VST3 #AU #AAX #Standalone #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase
