ML4000 Mastering Limiter Native v7 Upgrade from v6 is the discounted path to the current version of McDSP's high-resolution limiter and multi-band dynamics processor, designed for music, mastering, post, and live sound. It comprises two plug-ins: ML1, a mastering limiter, and ML4, a multi-band processing section fed into the same limiter algorithm. The ML4 provides a 4-band Gate, Expander (upwards or downwards), and Compressor in each band, configurable separately or linked together.

The design is unusually complete for a limiter. It offers a brick wall look-ahead limiter, multi-stage peak detection and limiting, and unique limiter Knee and Mode controls that shape how limiting is applied rather than only how much. The ML4 section allows simultaneous display of Gate, Expander, and Compressor dynamic curves in every band, with adjustable crossover filters and multi-band control linking. While there is no EQ section, the crossovers and band output gains act as the basic controls of a graphic EQ, with band levels recombined in the mastering limiter. Multiple real-time metering options are included. Native formats are AAX Native, AU, and VST3; the HD edition adds AAX DSP.
