AudioThing miniBit is an 8-bit/chiptune synthesizer designed to recreate the distinctive sound of classic game consoles and retro computers. It features a main oscillator with 18 waveforms, a tunable square-wave sub oscillator, mono and poly modes with glide, and intentionally non-bandlimited waveforms that produce the characteristic aliasing associated with vintage digital hardware. Its bitcrusher and delay effects can push the sound further into gritty, lo-fi territory.

miniBit also includes a 32-step custom waveform editor with eight waveform slots per preset and an 8-step sequencer capable of modulating pitch, volume, cutoff, resonance, waveform, and downsampling. The plugin includes 128 presets and a preset randomizer, making it useful for chiptune melodies, basses, leads, game-inspired effects, and experimental electronic sound design. The current v1.8 release supports VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP, and standalone on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with AUv3 and standalone versions available for iOS/iPadOS.
