About Mini V
Mini V is described with the line DNA preserved, and its claim is stated directly: Mini V's precise emulation and sonic accuracy is simply unparalleled. The 3 OSC fatness, the super-rich ladder filter — it's all there. Those two elements are the whole reason the Minimoog matters: three oscillators with the capacity to be detuned against each other produce the thick, unstable tone that defines the instrument, and the ladder filter's particular saturation and resonance behaviour is what gives a Minimoog bass its weight — so an emulation succeeds or fails on those specifics.
Arturia's framing of the addition is measured: the original Minimoog featured a no-nonsense layout that yielded instant sonic gratification. Mini V starts there, and ends in a phenomenal sound ranging from creamy to monstrous, with extensive options for advanced sound treatment when you need it. The modern additions are documented: 2 modulators, 1 arpeggiator — with a polymetric arpeggiator cited among the enhancements — 4 modes of custom keyboard expressivity, and 3 effects slots with 17 effects to choose from. It is TAE Powered, which Arturia defines as the exclusive analog modeling technology that makes our emulations indistinguishable from the originals, working by accurately mimicking the characteristics of analog oscillators, filters, and soft clipping to provide astonishing component-accurate detail and authentic analog charm in equal measure. It includes a preset browser with keyword search and browsing by instrument type and musical style, and a resizable GUI. It works in Standalone, VST, AAX, Audio Unit, and NKS (64-bit DAWs only). Requirements are Win 10+ (64-bit) or Mac OS 11.0+, 4 GB RAM, 4 cores CPU at 3.4 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo-boost), 3 GB free hard disk space, and an OpenGL 2.0 compatible GPU, with ARM processors not supported on Windows. Note that Roland and Cherry Audio also produce Minimoog emulations — Roland's Model D and Cherry Audio's Miniverse, described as a highly detailed emulation of the legendary Minimoog Model D with over 250 presets from pro sound designers, including MPE-enabled patches, costing $49 regular and frequently $19 on sale — so worth distinguishing between them in the catalogue. It suits rock, pop, funk, electronic, and film score production.
