Mellotron V is described as Mega 'Tron — Arturia's recreation of the Mellotron, the tape-replay keyboard whose pre-recorded tape strips, mechanical noise, and unstable pitch made it one of the most recognizable sounds in progressive rock, psychedelia, and later ambient and indie music. The instrument's character comes from its mechanism: each key triggers a length of magnetic tape, producing an attack that swells slightly, a note that drifts in pitch as the tape plays, and a hard stop when the tape ends. Arturia's version models that behaviour rather than merely sampling the sound. The recreation extends the original with controls that make those mechanical characteristics adjustable: an ADSR Envelope to shape the volume curve with a synth-like envelope, achieving crisper attacks and longer tails than the original; Tale of the Tape, which lets you decide how much like road-worn tape Mellotron V sounds, not to mention the loudness of the Mellotron's signature mechanical noises; and Touch Response. The instrument supplies the classic tape library — flutes, strings, choirs, brass, and the famous three-violin and cello tapes — alongside additional tape sets, and it includes a preset browser to instantly find the sound that's in your head with intelligent and streamlined preset browsing. This instrument is also part of the V Collection — your complete dream line-up of the legendary synths, organs, pianos and more that made keyboard history. It works in Standalone, VST, AAX, Audio Unit, and NKS (64-bit DAWs only), on Windows and macOS, and suits progressive rock, psychedelic, indie, ambient, and cinematic production. #MellotronV #Mellotron #Arturia #VintageKeys #TapeReplay #ProgressiveRock #Psychedelic #Indie #Ambient #Cinematic #VCollection #AnalogModeling #SoundDesign #MusicProduction #Standalone #VST #VST3 #AU #AAX #NKS #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase
