LANDR Composer is a generative composition tool — instruments and plugins of this class generate musical ideas rather than sounds, producing chord progressions, melodies, basslines, and arrangement suggestions that can be auditioned, edited, and dragged into a DAW. The category exists because starting is often the hardest part of a session, and a tool that proposes a viable progression in the key and mood you specify turns a blank project into a working one.

Tools of this type typically let you set a key, scale, tempo, and mood or genre, then generate variations on demand, with controls for complexity, voicing, and register, and they often export MIDI so the material can be reworked with any instrument. They are best understood as idea generators rather than finished arrangements: the output needs human shaping, but it removes the friction of the first decision. LANDR's wider platform spans AI-assisted mastering and distribution, and Composer extends that into the writing stage. It suits pop, electronic, hip hop, cinematic, and singer-songwriter production, and is equally useful as a practice and ear-training aid. Plugins of this class run on macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, and some operate as web tools as well. Confirm whether your catalogue's listing is the plugin or the web service, and its current feature set, since generative tools are updated frequently.
