Kramer Master Tape was developed in association with Eddie Kramer and modelled on a rare vintage 1/4" reel-to-reel machine. It is more than tape emulation: it models 1/4" analog tape saturation with uncanny accuracy but also delivers tape delay effects, and you can isolate the tube mic pre's sweet analog sound and use it independently of the tape effects. That combination of tape, delay, and separate preamp makes it a broader studio tool than a single-purpose saturator. The fidelity to the hardware is emphasised throughout — the modelling includes attention to tape's details rather than applying a generic tape curve. Placement matters too: Kramer describes using it at the end of the chain and auxing it to a Doubler for some nice juiciness, which reflects its common role as a finishing treatment. It suits vocals, drums, guitars, bass, and full mixes, and appears in Waves' Tape, Tubes & Transistors bundle alongside PuigTec EQs and Renaissance Reverb.
