KR-55C Drum Machine is Cherry Audio's recreation of the Korg KR-55 — the analog rhythm machine whose warm, slightly compressed, and unmistakably vintage drum tones appeared on countless late-1970s and 1980s recordings. The hardware's architecture is a specific part of its appeal: the KR-55 generates its sounds with analog circuits rather than samples, producing a kick with a soft, rounded attack, an unusually musical snare, and hi-hats with metallic character distinct from the 808 and 909 families — which is why it remains sought after by producers wanting drums that do not sound like the standard drum machines. Cherry Audio's recreation extends the original with the features its other instruments share: advanced one-click UI magnification, four user-selectable interface color themes, full MIDI control and DAW automation for all controls, and MPE support. Its sequencer is the element reviewers single out, with the plugin widely lauded for its easy-to-use and addictive sequencer workflow, lovely user interface, extensive presets, high-quality built-in effects, and modern features like DAW integration and MIDI output. It is available in AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats, with a free 30-day demo that will play white noise periodically, but is otherwise unlimited. Requirements are macOS 10.13 or above with native Apple M1 or greater processor support, including Ultra, and a 3.4 GHz Quad-Core or M1 CPU with 8GB of RAM recommended, or Windows 7 or above (including Windows 11), 64-bit required, with a 3.4 GHz Quad-Core computer and 8GB of RAM recommended. Disk space is 150 MB on Mac and 97 MB on Windows, and an internet connection is required for product activation. It is included in Synth Stack 6, which assembles 36 of Cherry Audio's award-winning plugins, alongside Yellowjacket, ODC2800, Crumar Spirit, Trident Mk III, and Mercury-8, and it sits alongside PS-20 and Dreamsynth in the catalogue. It suits synthwave, electro, retro pop, indie, and electronic production. #KR55C #KR55 #CherryAudio #Korg #DrumMachine #RhythmMachine #AnalogDrums #VintageDrums #Sequencer #MIDIOutput #SynthStack #Synthwave #Electro #RetroPop #Indie #ElectronicMusic #Beatmaking #MusicProduction #AU #VST #VST3 #AAX #Standalone #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase
