About Kee Bass
Kee Bass is a free virtual instrument plugin (synth) created by Martinic to recreate the warm, vintage tone of the 1960s Rheem Kee Bass keyboard. Built using ACE (Advanced Circuit Emulator) physical modeling rather than audio samples, it delivers an authentic analog response while maintaining an incredibly small file footprint. It is widely used by producers looking for vintage low-end warmth in lo-fi, funk, psychedelic rock, hip-hop, and retro pop tracks.
While faithful to the original hardware layout, Martinic introduced several modern enhancements. The plugin expands beyond the original monophonic design by adding an optional Polyphonic mode and extends the pitch capability to a full 128 MIDI note range. It features a built-in resonant low-pass filter, an LFO and envelope modulation section, Built-in Bass Fuzz, and flexible note priority modes. Kee Bass is 100% free (requires claiming a free license on their site) and comes in VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP plugin formats for Windows (7 through 11, including ARM64 support) and macOS (10.9+ with full Intel and Apple Silicon compatibility).
