Iona is a vintage-inspired monophonic synthesizer software instrument developed by AIR Music Technology. Built on high-resolution physical modeling, it recreates the signature single-oscillator sound architecture and hands-on workflow of the classic 1980s Roland SH-101. It is widely used across acid house, techno, synthwave, hip-hop, Afrobeats, and pop for creating heavy analog sub-bass, snappy synth plucks, dynamic lead melodies, and sequence-driven arps.

The synth combines four mixable sound sources—Pulse Width (VCO), Sawtooth, Sub-Oscillator, and Noise—feeding a self-oscillating resonant low-pass filter. Key features include dynamic Pulse-Width Modulation driven by an LFO or envelope, an expanded 128-step pattern sequencer with graphical editing, an integrated arpeggiator, built-in FX (Lo-Fi bitcrusher, Delay, Reverb, and 3-Band EQ), and 5 customizable UI color skins (Grey, Red, Blue, White, Yellow). Iona operates as a standalone application, a native expansion for standalone MPC hardware, and a plugin in 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows (10/11) and macOS (with native Apple Silicon and Intel support).
