High School Drum Corps is described by Soundiron as a professional multi-sample drum library focused on capturing the powerful, tight sound of high school marching band drum line. There's a certain unique punch to those hard mid-tones with that truncated dry snap of marching snares and bass drums. That description is precise about the material's appeal: marching percussion is tuned high and tightly cranked, so the snare produces a sharp, dry crack rather than a resonant tone, and marching bass drums are tuned in intervals across a set, functioning as a melodic-rhythmic unit — which is why the sound does not substitute for an orchestral or kit library.

Its contents are documented in detail: one master NKI instrument bank in open Kontakt format, indoor and outdoor recordings of marching snare, five tuned bass drums, crescendo rolls, and ensemble strikes, 20 Ambience patches created from the source content, 24 bit / 48 kHz uncompressed PCM wav samples, 20 custom sound-designed FX and ambient presets, 1,523 stereo samples, and 957 MB installed, with the manual noting the library includes a free bonus collection of general parade crowd ambiences, and the instrument programs including all of the drum articulations recorded in the large band rehearsal hall, with string strikes, rolls, and crescendos (1-shot and sustaining). A charming and honest detail from the documentation: the outdoor recordings were done on the football field, so there are occasional stray elements buried in the sound from passing pedestrians and onlookers. Additional ambience assets include 11 marching bands and drumlines passing by on a parade route and 6 general parade crowd looping ambiences. Requirements are the full retail version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5.5 or later, on Windows 7 or higher or Mac OSX 10.9 or higher, with 2 GB RAM and 1 GB disk — and critically, the free Kontakt "Player" and "Add Library" import process do not support this standard open-format Kontakt library. It suits film, television, and game scoring, sports and event production, parade and stadium-themed work, and experimental percussion, and the parade and crowd ambiences make it useful for scene-setting and sports broadcast contexts rather than only for drum parts.
