About Hand Clapper
Hand Clapper is a dedicated clap synthesizer developed by AudioThing, with its design inspired by the Boss HC-2 handclap unit and the circuitry of classic Japanese percussion synthesizers from the 1980s. It uses three internal noise sources to recreate the character of vintage analog drum-machine claps, with dedicated sources modeled around the 808, 909, and HC-2. The plugin includes 24 factory samples taken from vintage hardware and provides 48 factory presets for quickly finding different clap textures.
In addition to its internal sources, Hand Clapper allows users to load their own WAV samples of up to four seconds and process them through the plugin's sound-shaping system. The controls include a Tone bandpass/peak filter, Vintage Reverb, Brightness and Contrast controls, and a preset randomizer. This makes it useful not only for traditional handclaps but also for experimenting with unusual source material such as synth shots, piano sounds, vocals, and other short samples. The latest version also includes WAV export and velocity/pitch response improvements. Hand Clapper is available as a 64-bit VST2, VST3, AAX, and CLAP plugin on Windows; VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP on macOS; and VST2, VST3, and CLAP on Linux. It is also available as an AUv3 plugin and standalone app for iOS and iPadOS.
