Cherry Audio GX-80 is a virtual synthesizer inspired by two iconic Yamaha instruments, the GX-1 “Dream Machine” and the CS-80. It combines the CS-80’s expressive synthesis architecture with additional GX-1 features, including its distinctive filters, oscillator waveforms, and dual-layer design. Each layer provides up to 16 voices of polyphony, allowing two different sounds to be stacked or split across the keyboard.

GX-80 includes four polyphonic voice ranks, a virtual pitch ribbon, velocity and aftertouch support, sub-oscillator LFOs, ring modulation, MIDI control, and over 1,000 presets. Its effects section includes chorus/rotary, flange/phaser, synchronized digital/tape delay, and reverb, making it suitable for atmospheric pads, expressive leads, basses, cinematic sounds, synthwave, electronic music, and sound design. It is available in AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats for 64-bit Windows 7+ and macOS 10.13+, with native Apple Silicon support.
