FREEZE: Infinite Blur is part of the KLANG series, and the series' identity is documented: KLANG is a series of virtual instruments made by a Cologne-based team of musicians, composers, and sound designers. These instruments cover a wide range of approaches, including previously unpublished instruments, unusual sound experiments, and random products while trying to emerge new sounds. The series is organised into named branches — KLANG TAPED, KLANG SYMPHONIC, KLANG FREEZE, KLANG VINTAGE SYNTH, KLANG DRUMBOX, and KLANG for Ableton Live — with individual instruments typically priced around $6.00, and some KLANG Free Instruments at $0.00. The FREEZE branch addresses a specific technique: freezing is the practice of capturing a moment of audio and sustaining it indefinitely, and instruments in this register typically supply held tones derived from frozen source material, gradual spectral movement to keep the sustain from becoming static, layering so that several frozen states can be combined, and processing that smears and blurs detail rather than sharpening it — which is what the "infinite blur" designation describes. Documented siblings in the same branch include KLANG FREEZE: Reverbception, which indicates the branch works with reverberant, smeared material as its source. The series' practical details are consistent: KLANG instruments require the Kontakt full version, with documented requirements of Kontakt full version 5.6.8 or higher for the series, and all titles available at around $6 each. The developer is Cinematique Instruments, with the KLANG series released under that umbrella. It suits ambient production, film and television scoring, sound design, and experimental electronic music, and its small size and price make it useful for adding a specific sustained texture rather than replacing a full library.
