It is widely used across hip-hop, boombap, lo-fi, Afrobeats, R&B, trap, and electronic genres to perform real-time breakdown effects, add vintage character to drum loops, and inject organic motion into static synth pads or keys.

The plugin features 8 distinct tape-mangling modes—including Tape Stop, Slow Down, Half-Speed, Pitch Shift, Flanger, Bitcrush, and Saturate—that can be triggered "on the fly" for dynamic live performance or automated seamlessly in a mix timeline. Key features include dedicated textured noise controls (for dialing in cassette hiss and mechanical hum), adjustable wow/flutter settings, real-time speed ramps, and full MIDI CC learn capabilities for external hardware controllers. Fly Tape II operates in 64-bit VST2, VST3, and AU formats for Windows (10/11) and macOS (with native Apple Silicon and Intel support), as well as natively within standalone Akai MPC and FORCE hardware devices running OS 2.15.1/3.5+.
