About Filterverse
Filterverse is described by its developer as a groundbreaking audio filter plug-in that offers filter types never heard before, blending bleeding-edge innovation with meticulous attention to detail and setting a new benchmark for filters. It is the developer's flagship, announced as the most powerful and musical multi-filter plug-in available today, and sits alongside Supermodal and Gatekeeper in a range the developer describes as having its own very well tuned sound.
The architecture is what distinguishes it from a conventional filter. The top strip provides slots for up to three filter choices, and a routing tab offers five different routing schemes for audio to pass through these three slots. For each slot there is an impressive choice of filter types — 30 from classic to sci-fi, backed by 250+ state-of-the-art algorithms — and you're free to use these in any combination, including multiples of a particular type. The filter list is unusually broad and the developer's own examples are worth carrying: saturating, synth-style filters like Swiss Army Knife or the sweet, creamy Bread and Butter; linear, transparent filters like Clear Glass; Brick Wall; Ripples and Double-Slit among the exquisite multi-peak creations; and the unique Robo Comb, which nests filters within filters, a design documented in review as encapsulating 36 comb filters in two layers with 20 different topologies. Further audio processors sit outside the filter category entirely — the Tempolay rhythmic granular delay, the Cabinator amp simulator, and Space, an elastic and lush reverb — grouped as "Non-Filters": audio processing tools that, while not conventional filters, offer filter-like modulation and sound-shaping capabilities. The modulation system is the other half of the product: eight modulation sources — Meta Knob, sequencer/LFO, ADSR, envelope follower, randomizer, pitch detector, MIDI/CV input and audio-rate oscillator — where sources can have multiple destinations and destinations can have multiple sources. That many-to-many routing is the reason the product is described in review as an 'instant inspiration' powerhouse, since modulating the filter cutoff from several sources at once produces movement a single LFO cannot. The plugin is optimised for audio-rate modulation, which is what allows the oscillator source to drive the filter at frequencies inside the audible range — the technique behind the screaming, self-oscillating character the developer's filter descriptions imply. And many filters self-resonate and create pleasing saturation, which is documented as a deliberate design goal rather than an artefact. Stereo modulation, panning and mid/side processing are included, so the filter's movement can be placed in the stereo field rather than applied identically to both channels. It ships with over 1,000 presets by world-renowned producers, searchable with tags, which matters more than usual here, because the filter and modulation combinations are numerous enough that a curated starting point is genuinely useful. A review notes one limitation worth carrying honestly: there are no built-in tooltips, and while the manual is detailed and genuinely helpful, short explanations inside the plugin would make exploration smoother, especially when working with the more experimental filter types. Two filters were added in version 1.2 — The Valley, a high-slope asymmetric band-reject filter designed to carve a deep hole in your frequency spectrum, and Deep Phase, a contrary phaser producing narrow resonant bandpass peaks instead of notches — so the catalogue should carry the current version's count rather than an initial figure.
Suits electronic music production, sound design, and any session where filtering is a creative instrument rather than a corrective step.
