Factory by Sugar Bytes is a liquid modular synthesizer — a polyphonic modular-style synth whose purpose is to break free of the predictable patterns that standard subtractive soft synths often fall into, merging multi-engine synthesis with a liquid modulation matrix built for organic motion and unexpected sonic paths. Its 8-voice engine combines VA-Sync, wavetable, waveguide, and fractal synthesis, and the two oscillators each offer 10 different modes — with the developer noting that each of their modes is an instrument in its own right, and with non-aliasing VA-Sync and fractal oscillators alongside genuine wavetable, waveguide, and FM implementations.

Supporting that are a sub-oscillator with ring modulation, a noise generator with 5 colours, an 8×10 mod matrix with 36 targets, a Morph Fader with 2 states and copy/paste, and a Sample & Hold module. Envelopes, filters, LFOs, sequencers, arpeggiators, tonal quantizers, and randomizing elements are all assignable through the matrix, and an on-board effects section applies reverbs and delays to the result. The developer's own summary is that it opens up new paths to creative sound design, with generative and durable sounds as easy to produce as a direct bass. It runs on macOS 10.13 or higher in Audio Unit, VST2, VST3, AAX, and Standalone, and Windows 7 or higher in VST2, VST3, AAX, and Standalone, with all plugins available as 64-bit versions for Windows and Mac (Intel and Apple Silicon).
