Universal Audio EMT 140 Classic Plate Reverberator is an officially endorsed emulation of the legendary EMT 140 plate reverb, modeled from three different units installed at The Plant Studios in Sausalito, California. Plates A and B recreate the original EMT electronics with their worn-in character, while Plate C uses serviced Martech electronics for a fuller and more extended frequency response. The result is a range of dense, smooth plate textures suited to vocals, drums, guitars, keys, strings, and other instruments.

The plugin combines the original hardware's mechanical damping and input filtering with additional controls unavailable on the physical units, including Balance, Width, and Modulation. These allow the reverb to be positioned within the stereo field, widened for larger sources, or given additional movement and shimmer. The current UAD Native version runs directly from the computer CPU without requiring Apollo or UAD hardware and supports macOS and Windows with AU, VST3, and AAX formats.
