DrumComputer is described as the new drum machine for computer-based production — Sugar Bytes' instrument combining synthesis with advanced sampling and a flexible sequencer across eight drum engines. Each engine can be configured as a synthesizer with three synthesis methods — analog-style physical modelling, FM synthesis, and wavetable synthesis — or as a sample player, and each of the eight slots carries its own filter, compressor, overdrive, and two sends into the master effects. The sequencing side is where it goes beyond conventional drum machines: 16 step sequencer and pattern generator, probability, rolls, +/- step delay, swing, humanize, plus auto and manual remixing/fills, easy keyboard mapping for patterns, mutes and engine triggers, keyzones for rolls, pitch and modulation, and MIDI file drag & drop. The multiple audio/MIDI outputs let each drum be processed separately in the DAW. A notable recent addition is that the DrumComputer Claude Extension lets you generate complete DrumComputer sounds from a single text prompt, installing via Claude Desktop > Settings > Extensions > Advanced Settings > Install Extension, and it requires the DrumComputer full version. It suits electronic music, techno, house, hip hop, IDM, and experimental production, and works as a sound design tool as much as a rhythm generator.
