Codex is described as a cutting-edge polyphonic wavetable synthesizer based on an advanced granular wavetable engine and powered by Waves' Virtual Voltage technology, delivering deep basses, screaming leads, rich pads, and growling FX. Its distinguishing technical claim is advanced formant control technology, which allows Codex to provide direct control over the acoustic resonance of a sound while maintaining its resonance character, alongside high-resolution FFT-based automatic interpolation technology, which results in smooth morphing while sweeping through wavetables — which is to say wavetable sweeps sound continuous rather than stepped, a common weakness in simpler wavetable synths. Its architecture and controls are documented: innovative oscillators with progressive wavetable scanning capabilities, an advanced and comprehensive modulation matrix with 12 modulation sources, including aftertouch and the arpeggiator/sequencer, routable to almost any CODEX parameter, which makes it easy to dial in those "wobbly" bass sounds by even modulating the onboard effects. The flexible arpeggiator/sequencer can change note pitch but also modulate any other parameter, sync to 13 rhythmic values or run free, add swing, choose 4 arpeggiation modes, and do hold. Wavetable (sample) importing lets you import your own waveforms as wavetables and make sounds no one has ever heard before, and the instrument ships with over 500 presets (some sources cite over 1,000 including all categories), making it superb for load-and-go sounds that enhance any production while remaining deep enough for unparalleled sound design possibilities. It is a standard perpetual licence product, delivered as a download, and designed to support AAX (Native), AU, RTAS, and VST plug-in formats. Note that distributor listings state standalone operation: no, so it requires a host. It suits electronic music, EDM, dubstep, and cinematic sound design. #Codex #Waves #WavetableSynth #Wavetable #Granular #Synthesizer #Synth #FormantControl #ModulationMatrix #VirtualVoltage #Arpeggiator #SoundDesign #EDM #Dubstep #Bass #Cinematic #MusicProduction #VST #VST3 #AU #AAX #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase #ProTools
