Blofeld is described by Waldorf as the versatile Waldorf synthesizer classic, now available as a software instrument — the versatile and most popular Waldorf synthesizer classic Blofeld is now also available as a software instrument. Two operational details distinguish this release from a conventional plugin recreation. First, the original Blofeld hardware can be controlled by the plugin — so it functions as an editor and librarian for a hardware unit as well as a standalone instrument. Second, with the Blofeld plugin you can also control your hardware and it is compatible with existing Blofeld soundsets — meaning any sound bank a user already owns for the hardware loads into the plugin, which is a significant practical benefit for existing Blofeld owners. Its sonic character is documented in terms of the family: the sound generation of the Blofeld plugin delivers the typical fat and rich Waldorf sound character that so many Waldorf users worldwide love when they are playing their Q, Q+, Microwave, Microwave II/XT, or even the flagship, the Wave. That lineage is the point — Blofeld sits in the Waldorf wavetable tradition that begins with the Microwave and runs through the Q series to the Wave, and the plugin is priced at €149.00 including VAT. Note the vendor relationship worth stating in a catalogue: Waldorf Music also released Microwave 1 Plugin Version 2, in which case both are Waldorf wavetable instruments covering different points in the lineage — and the Blofeld's own hardware counterpart remains in production, so buyers can choose between hardware, plugin, or both with the plugin acting as editor. It runs as a plugin on macOS and Windows. It suits electronic music, techno, ambient, trance, and sound design, and is a natural choice for producers wanting the Waldorf wavetable character without sourcing rare hardware. #Blofeld #Waldorf #WaldorfMusic #WavetableSynth #Synthesizer #Synth #HardwareEditor #SoundsetCompatible #QSeries #Microwave #Wave #Ambient #Techno #Trance #SoundDesign #ElectronicMusic #MusicProduction #VST #VST3 #AU #AAX #FLStudio #AbletonLive #LogicPro #Cubase
