Blackboard EQ is an equalizer plugin developed by CalPochi, designed around a visual workflow where users can shape EQ curves directly on screen. It supports up to 24 independent EQ bands, with controls for frequency, gain, Q, filter type, slope, and processing channel. The available filter types include Low Cut, Low Shelf, Bell, Notch, Band Pass, High Shelf, High Cut, and Tilt, with cut-filter slopes ranging from 12 to 96 dB/octave and an additional Brickwall option in Linear Phase mode.

Each band can operate as a Dynamic EQ with Threshold, Range, Attack, and Release controls, allowing specific frequencies to be dynamically reduced or enhanced only when necessary. Individual bands can also apply saturation using Drive and Character controls, while channel assignment can be set independently to Stereo, Left, Right, Mid, or Side. Blackboard EQ offers Zero Latency and Linear Phase modes, 2x and 4x oversampling, Pre/Post spectrum analyzers, A/B comparison, Proportional Q, and Output Gain. It also includes an unusual annotation system that lets users add text notes to EQ points and use a FREE Draw mode for visual chalk-style markings without affecting the audio. The plugin is available in VST3 and AU formats for 64-bit Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later, with native support for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
