Black Box Analog Design HG-2MS is an advanced tube saturation and distortion software plugin developed by Brainworx in collaboration with Black Box Analog Design and distributed by Plugin Alliance. Modeled component-by-component after the elite hardware tube processor, it captures the lush, organic harmonic character produced by high-grade 6U8A pentode and triode vacuum tubes. It is widely used across mastering, bus processing, mixing, hip-hop, Afrobeats, pop, rock, EDM, and lo-fi to add glue, width, warmth, aggressive drive, or subtle harmonic air to vocals, drums, synths, and full mix buses.

The MS version expands upon the original HG-2 plugin by adding dedicated Mid/Side (M/S) processing, allowing engineers to saturate and shape the center mono signal independently from the stereo sides. The signal flow features twin tube saturation stages (Pentode for rich even/odd harmonics and Triode for smooth compression), a parallel 12AX7 Alt Tube stage with 4 selectable frequency voicing curves, and low/high-frequency tone shaping via the Air and Density filters. Key modern digital features include Mono Maker (collapsing low frequencies to mono), Stereo Width expansion, Input/Output Gain Compensation (Auto Gain), selectable TMT (Tolerance Modeling Technology) channel modeling, variable high-pass/low-pass filters, and oversampling up to 16x. HG-2MS operates in 64-bit VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for Windows (10/11) and macOS (with native Apple Silicon and Intel support).
