BigKick Expansion V5 – Techno Kicks with Axel Karakasis is documented through the artist's own statement about the pack, which is worth quoting because it states the intent directly: "The aim is to facilitate the work of producers who want to deliver efficiently music of high standards. My new kicks collection is composed of 64 presets to be used exclusively with BigKick!! I hope you find this both useful and inspiring! — Axel Karakasis." The artist is the Greek techno maestro, and the pack as a must-have for any electronic music producer looking to inject their tracks with the authentic energy of the underground scene, with the expectation that you can expect the perfectly crafted kicks featured on his own productions within this BigKick Expansion — that last point being the specific value of an artist pack: the kicks are the ones used on released records rather than approximations.

Its contents are documented: 64 crafted kick drum presets, 32 attack hits for added customization, 32 attack presets to enhance sound versatility, and easy integration with BigKick Preset Manager. In techno, the kick is not merely a rhythmic foundation but the sound that defines the track's weight and its relationship to the room, and techno production frequently builds the entire arrangement around a tuned kick — which explains why a dedicated pack of sixty-four techno kicks with matching attack layers is a complete tool rather than a sampler of variations.

A requirement applies to every BigKick expansion and should lead the entry: the full version of BigKick is required to run this expansion pack, and Plugin Boutique's BigKick Drum Generator is required to run this software. Installation is documented: download the.zip folder from within your user account, open BigKick within your DAW, click the 'Info' tab, and click 'Yes' to confirm installation — or on Windows, click 'Install Add-On Packs', locate the.big file, and click 'Open'. It has appeared on sale at $5 USD, and expansions in the series are commonly listed at $5.00 to $15.00. It is published by Plugin Boutique and belongs to a series that also includes Techno Kicks V3 with Dave Angel, so buyers should note that the series contains multiple techno volumes from different artists — a distinction worth carrying in the catalogue to avoid conflating them. It suits techno, hard techno, and underground club production.
