BFD Player Expansion: Americana Brushes is inviting you to dive into the oil soaked vibes of grungy authentic country, neo-folk, and vintage rock with our new expansion pack, and it is derived from the acclaimed BFD Horsepower expansion pack, this pack reimagines a Gretsch USA Custom drumkit, played with brushes in exacting detail. The brush performance is the whole point: a drum kit played with brushes produces a completely different instrument from one played with sticks — brushes contact the head with a broad, soft surface rather than a tip, so the attack is a swish rather than a click, the snare loses its crack, and the cymbals lose their ping and become a wash. That makes the pack idiomatic for jazz, country, folk, and any acoustic arrangement where a stick-hit kit would be too aggressive — and few drum libraries sample brushes at this level of detail, which is the specific gap this pack fills.

Its contents are documented instrument by instrument: shells including a 20x14" Gretsch USA Custom Kick, 16x16" Gretsch USA Custom Floor Tom, 13x9" Gretsch USA Custom Mid Tom, and 12x8" Gretsch USA Custom High Tom; a 14x5" Gretsch USA Custom Snare; and cymbals comprising a 21" Zildjian A-Custom Ride, 20" Zildjian A-Custom Crash, 14" Sabian AA Hihat, and 19" Zildjian K Dark Crash. Its assets are documented as groove count of 151, with groove genres covering Country, Folk, Blues, and Jazz, and a preset count of 9 production presets and 1 'Original Mix' preset — a pack that includes recorded grooves rather than only samples, which is useful because brush playing's value lies substantially in the patterns it makes possible.

The compatibility position must lead the catalogue entry and is documented explicitly: BFD Player 1.1.0 required, and not compatible with BFD3. That distinction matters because BFD's catalogue divides into BFD Player expansions and BFD3 expansions, which are not interchangeable — a BFD3 expansion requires BFD 3.5 and does not work with BFD Player. Requirements are Windows 10 version 1909 and above, or macOS 10.13 to macOS 13 Ventura with Apple Silicon compatibility, with 2 GB free disk space, 10.5 GB for all content recommended, 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended), and a dual-core 2.5 GHz CPU. It is listed at $29 in the BFD Player expansion range. Its siblings include Americana Sticks, derived from the same Horsepower expansion and reimagining the same Gretsch USA Custom kit played with sticks in exacting detail — so a buyer wanting the Horsepower kit in both performances can acquire both, and the two packs are complementary rather than duplicates.
