Bass Slapper is the most elaborate, detailed, and realistic-sounding slap bass virtual instrument ever created, offering the most nuanced and realistic slap bass plugin ever created, and the developer's framing sets the use case precisely: recreate on your keyboard the expressiveness and dynamics of a real bass player with Bass Slapper. The technique's difficulty explains why this is a distinct product rather than an ordinary bass library: slap bass is built on pops, thumb strikes, ghost notes, slides, and rapid articulation switching, and a conventional sampled bass with a single velocity layer per note cannot reproduce it, since the technique's character lives in the transitions between articulations, not in the pitches.

Waves' own catalogue places it in a documented family of bass instruments — Bass Fingers is the most elaborate and realistic-sounding finger-style bass virtual instrument in existence. Lay down authentic and realistic-sounding basslines with the personality of a seasoned bass player — intuitively on your keyboard — and the two together cover the two main electric bass playing techniques, slap and fingerstyle. That pairing is worth stating for a buyer choosing between them: the products are complementary rather than competing, and a producer needing both will buy both. The instruments share Waves' instrument framework, which in this generation includes performance controls mapped to keyboard ranges and articulations, plus onboard processing. Bass Slapper also appears in Waves' sample library downloads alongside Clavinet, Electric 88 Piano, Electric 200 Piano, Electric Grand 80 Piano, and Grand Rhapsody Piano, where the combined sample libraries are listed at 42.5 GB.

Requirements should be verified on the product page: distributor listings for this instrument are inconsistent about the required sample library size and the current format list, so It suits funk, soul, R&B, pop, disco, and jazz fusion production, and the developer's warning about the risk — the cheesy slap sound of a certain era's television theme music — is worth addressing honestly in a catalogue description, since a producer considering a slap bass instrument is aware of that risk and wants to know the product avoids it.
