Devious Machines Bass Focus is a low-frequency enhancement plugin designed to make bass sound fuller, louder, and more powerful while preserving the character of the original signal. Instead of simply boosting or saturating the low end, its algorithm generates higher-frequency harmonics that are perceived as part of the original bass, improving the audibility of low-frequency material on smaller speakers and portable playback systems. It can be used on individual instruments or across an entire mix, with applications including 808s, kick drums, synths, bass guitars, and mastering.

Bass Focus provides independent control over the affected frequencies, even and odd harmonic balance, and harmonic richness, allowing the generated spectrum to be shaped precisely. Three output faders separately control the clean, harmonic, and top-end signals, while the built-in spectrum display provides visual feedback during processing. The plugin is available for Windows and macOS in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, making it suitable for mixing, mastering, bass enhancement, and improving low-end translation.
