Freakshow Industries BACKMASK is a chaotic audio reverser and multi-effect processor designed to manipulate discrete sections of incoming audio rather than simply reversing an entire signal. It can trigger reversals using milliseconds, DAW-synced musical values, or input level, with options to reverse all, alternating, or randomly selected segments. The length of the reversed sections can also be adjusted, while the plugin operates with zero latency by default.

BACKMASK also includes Stuck mode and Time Align mode, with the latter introducing additional latency to enable more advanced reverse processing. Its unusual timing behavior makes it useful for creating glitch effects, rhythmic edits, transitions, reversed textures, and unconventional sound-design patterns from drums, loops, vocals, instruments, and samples.
