Axe Machina is a powerful virtual electric guitar library meant for pure metal destruction, featuring Craig Peters' custom Kiesel Aries 7-string. The instrument specification is documented in more detail than most guitar libraries supply: Craig Peters sampled his custom Kiesel Aries multi-scaled 7 string guitar, tuned to A Standard. The instrument features 24 frets, a swamp ash body, a birdseye maple neck, Guitarmory Polaris pickups, and D'Addario XL 10–64 gauge strings. The swamp ash body delivers a strong natural tone with rich resonance and a distinct sonic character. Multi-scale (fanned-fret) construction and A-standard tuning place it firmly in modern progressive and djent territory, where the lowest string sits well below standard tuning and the fanned frets keep string tension even across the range.

Its sampling is documented in unusual depth. Articulations cover single note and power chord sustains, complete with palm mute variations and a wide range of performance effects — single notes and power chords, palm mutes, pinch harmonics, mutes and chokes, pick scrapes in slow, medium and long, and fret noise, rakes and slides, with the developer confirming bridge pickup only and the specifics: palm mutes have 3 recorded velocity layers, 8 round robin downstroke and 8 round robin upstroke, and you can keyswitch to palm mute. A detail that matters for metal production is stated plainly: pristine D.I. recordings, ready to be run through your favorite amp sims and plugins — so the library is designed to be processed rather than to arrive pre-amped, which suits producers who already have a preferred amp sim. The package contains 8 powerful Kontakt.nki instrument presets and 71,796 samples in locked.ncw format, with samples as losslessly compressed 24 bit 48 kHz NCW files that can only be played by Kontakt or Kontakt Player. Requirements are documented: this Powered-By-Kontakt Player Edition is supported by version 8.1 or later of the free Kontakt Player (VST, AU, AAX) and the special "Libraries" rack, so no full Kontakt licence is needed — with Windows 7 or higher, OSX 10.12 or higher, a dual-core CPU, and 3+ GB system RAM, with SATA or SSD hard drive recommended. It is priced at $99. It suits metal, djent, metalcore, progressive metal, and heavy rock production, and the D.I. delivery makes it particularly suited to producers building a signature tone through their own signal chain.
